Routing, real-time tracking and tire wear studies speed up deliveries and ensure more efficient business management
In recent years, the logistics sector has been one of the fastest growing in Brazil. According to data from the Supply Chain Logistics Institute (ILOS), the segment generates around R$1.5 trillion per year, employing more than 12 million professionals. The study also shows that, in 2022, logistics represented 13.3% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The sector faces many challenges, given Brazil’s continental dimensions and the infrastructure limitations of the transportation and distribution network. In this scenario, investing in technology and innovation has become essential for logistics companies to continue growing. And here at Edge, we are following this trend and delivering efficient solutions that can directly impact management and business results.
In one of our projects, software can be used to map out a fleet’s delivery routes, integrated with a mobile app, which monitors the driver’s route in real time, whether there has been a deviation from the route, any unexpected stops, and other data that, when combined, contribute to more strategic planning of actions.
And it doesn’t stop there. An intelligent technology was also developed that studies the wear and tear caused to vehicle tires – preventive practices for controlling grooves, tire life, timely replacement, rotation, and correct tire pressure are all monitored by the solution. Tire costs can represent between 10% and 20% of a fleet’s expenses, so optimizing fleet management procedures, since performance data can identify patterns, is essential to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance logistics processes.
The work done by Edge shows that technology is transforming Logistics, leaving aside old solutions to establish new alternatives that automate processes and optimize steps, reducing costs and increasing productivity, thus ensuring more efficient and modern management.
