With the resumption of school activities, the third class of Edge Academy begins Basic Training
The third class of Edge Academy, a talent development project of the Edge Innovation Center, linked to the Institute of Computing (IC) of the Federal University of Alagoas (Ufal), began its activities on July 24. There are 30 new students from the Ufal Computer Science and Engineering courses who will be part of the academic excellence project, made possible with resources from Softex and supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
The new members of the Academy join 37 other scholarship holders of the Program, which currently offers Basic Training, lasting 6 months, consisting of Technical-Behavioral Immersions, with classes and activities on Product Discovery, Agile Methodologies, Quality Assurance (QA), among others, in addition to individual and group psychological monitoring of the students.
“Edge Academy was created to develop talent, offering multidisciplinary preparation of talent for the market, with alignment between theoretical and practical bases, with the goal of training professionals prepared to feed the innovation ecosystem in Alagoas. We are in our third class and will continue to grow, developing people to impact the world through technology”, says Willy Tiengo, IC professor and coordinator of the Edge Innovation Center.
In addition to encouraging academic excellence and the production of knowledge throughout the undergraduate course, the program promotes corporate and entrepreneurial culture, facilitates access to professionals and researchers from different areas of activity and also offers professional and career guidance, with individualized monitoring based on the triad – career planning, performance improvement and psychoeducation focused on career development.
“The experience within the Academy, for me, has been transformative. In recent months, I have been working on projects within the Program and also within Edge, and I believe that this is a unique opportunity for me to develop my technical and behavioral skills”, says Ricardo Vinicius, a 4th-year Computer Science student at Ufal and a scholarship holder in the first Academy class.
After completing the Basic Training, students move on to the second stage of the Program, with Specific Training Tracks, where the scholarship holder can choose between the Software Development, Embedded Systems or Artificial Intelligence tracks. Students also have the opportunity to join Edge projects in these areas.
