Customized tablet for the demands of a company in the logistics sector was delivered by the Embedded Systems team

We recently developed a tablet with a completely exclusive version of the Android 10 Operating System. This device is the result of a collaborative effort between the Engineering, Design and Software Development teams, with the goal of delivering a high-performance and flexible solution.
The market increasingly values devices that offer not only robustness and quality, but also the possibility of customization. The tablet created stands out in this regard, allowing easy integration with different software and systems, in addition to being capable of running a wide range of applications, whether for personal use, for entertainment, or for industrial or commercial control. This versatility is a strategic differentiator, ensuring that the Edge partner’s end audience can use it in different environments and situations, in this case, as an on-board computer.
Delivery – In the solution developed for a logistics services company, the team updated a keyboard, which functions as an interface for an On-Board Computer containing, among other features, a survey of the driver’s journey, contact with the Support Centers and the identification of possible problems in the vehicle. The technical objective of the project was to increase reliability and update the delivery of existing components, in addition to adding value to the company’s equipment, improving issues related to firmware and hardware, with more reliable communication protocols and offering new features. In the new version developed by the Edge team, the physical keyboard of the previous version was replaced by a tablet, a 7-inch touchscreen display. As mentioned, a version of the Android 10 Operating System was developed exclusively for the device, with parts of the Kernel changed to include the sensors and communications specific to the project. The Printed Circuit Board (PCB), which holds the electronic components, where all the processing part is located, was gradually evolved until its final version. With the addition of a more widely used operating system, in this case Android, the company’s new virtual keyboard developed by Edge now integrates several functionalities, allowing the installation of third-party applications, making it possible to use the equipment for a wide range of activities, which increases its market reach and user loyalty.
